Tulle Circles

images Tulle CirclesA great and easy addition to any wedding or event is the use of favors. Wedding favors are small ‘thank you’ souvenirs given out by the bride and groom to any guest who attends their wedding. These are often overlooked by party decorators and planners in my opinion since most tend to focus on the larger pieces of an event. However the most appreciated and best valued items are usually the smallest and most personalized. This is why I am here today…to help you go over some of the finer details that really help make or break a wedding…so to speak.

In this case were talking about tulle circles and the many things you can do with them to spruce up any wedding and wedding reception. These literally cost pennies to make and require little to no skill, depending on who you are. icon smile Tulle Circles A previous post I wrote about tulle votive favors opened the doors to talk more about the use of favors at such elegant events.

This is where you take a champagne glass, fill it with candy/rice/decorative jewels/special note, and wrap the glass from the top towards the bottom with a tulle circle. Just make sure that the tulle circle is large enough in diameter that it completely covers the glass and maintains enough slack to tie the stem of the glass with a ribbon of some sort. Another nice touch to a piece like this is adding some decorative rose buds or lavender inside the glass to give the favor a more intimate feel.

Another fantastic use of tulle circles is to use them as a pouch for rice that will thrown at the wedding. Just pre-make the tulle circle into a pouch with an opening at the top and place a small handful of rice into the opening then tie a ribbon around the top. I also suggest attaching attaching a hand-written gift card if times permits to each one. This can easily fasten to the favor with an elastic band of some kind.

Finally…I save the easiest for last. Simple place large some large tulle circle under a place setting for dinner or under a vase for some added depth. There is nothing than a lonely looking table, so take some time to fix it up as inexpensively as you know how. Who knows, maybe you’ll even be able to incorporate some of the ideas I shared with you today at your wedding. icon wink Tulle Circles

Tulle Gift Basket

Gift Basket Wrapped in Tulle

Go the extra mile and show that special someone you really care by putting in some extra time and wrapping it in tulle. At one point in time we’ve all wanted to try it, so now here’s your chance with the one fabric that makes everything better.

Follow along with these steps and watch your masterpiece come to life.

What you need:

- 1 wide roll of tulle (nylon tulle, silk tulle, or shimmery tulle can be used)

- scissors

- transparent tape

- and of course a gift basket for that special someone

Step 1:

Find a flat surfaced table and unroll the tulle from your body outwards, making sure that it doesn’t fall off the table though. Now place your basketĀ  directly in the center of the unrolled tulle to get the right size. Do so by pulling one end of the tulle above the handle of the basket (because that’s the highest point) then center the gift basket on the tulle. Next you want to bring the other end of the tulle up to same height as the other one that you’re currently holding. Once both ends of the tulle are to a satisfactory length then cut the one end of the tulle from the roll.

Step 2:

Begin to gather all of the fabric at the very top of the basket or the handle and pull it very snug so that it fits completely around the basket.

Step 3:

Now put some transparent tape around the gathered tulle to help hold it in place. Now do sort of semi-hem of the tulle and seal it with some tape so you can then pull the back piece of the tulle towards the front of the basket and pull the front piece of the tulle towards the back of the basket. Tape both of these to the side of the basket. This is to give the packaging a nice and neat finish along the handle of the basket.

Step 4:

Place a bow at the very top along with some other garnishings such as flowers or something.

Tulle Gift Wrapping with Ribbon

A great inexpensive way to liven up any gift is with tulle and some imagination of course. While some people go for the store bought ribbons or stick-on bows, the use of tulle as a gift topper is becoming more and more popular. It’s very easy to do and only takes a few minutes to complete a gift.

There are 2 basic approaches to completing this project, one is that you wrap the gift with some tulle, tie it in place and then place a tulle bow on top or you can wrap the gift using one longer piece of tulle that will leave you enough room at the end of it to make the bow. I personally suggest the former, it’s just easier to work with that way. You wouldn’t want that wholesale tulle you bought to go to waste now would you?

Whatever the case, you will always end with a package wrapped in tulle that will light up any room. Try this at the next event you go to and watch everyone marvel over the packaging…as they should icon smile Tulle Gift Wrapping

Tulle Votive Favors

A very price efficient and effective way of saying thank you to any party guest; these elegant candle favors add yet another dimension to the wonders that tulle can bring. Arrange them individually or together as sets of three, whatever you decide, these will surely make a great bridal shower centerpiece or romantic setting. Spruce each one up with hand-written guest names to really personalize each one, this is the perfect way to show your guests that you really do appreciate them.

What you need:

  • 3 pieces of tulle, 15″ in diameter (any color)
  • 1 yard of satin ribbon (any color)
  • 2 pearl sprays per favor
  • 1 white satin leaf per favor
  • 1 votive clear cup per favor
  • 1 votive candle (scented or unscented)
  • scissors
  • ink pen

Step 1.
You want to position the candle. Start by laying the 3 15″ diameter pieces of tulle on a table, making sure to stagger the edges some. Place the votive candle in the votive cup then proceed to place both of these directly in the center of the tulle circles you had laid down.

Step 2.
With your hands, simply gather the tulle circle up around the outside of the votive cup until all sides appear to be even.

Step 3.
Take your 34″ piece of satin ribbon and tie it around the tulle just above the top of the votive in a nice and neat simple bow.

Step 4.
Begin to separate the tulle with your fingers to give the favor a fuller and “poofier” look to it, make sure it is even and consistent the entire way around though.

Step 5.
Using the white satin leaf and an ink pen (something fancy like gold will do) write in cursive lettering the name of your guest onto the leaf, making it large and legible. These will be the name tags.

Step 6.
Prepare the embellishments by twisting the stems of both the satin leaf and the pearl sprays.

Step 7.
Place these embellishments inside the middle of the tulle. The entry to this should be at the very top of the favor. Position them just inside the center hole and fan them out to your liking. You can also fasten in place if you like using some glue, adhesive, or small twist ties.

Step 8.
As an optional, but preferred step, I recommend taking 3 finished favors and placing them onto a tray or a nice setting plate in the middle of the table to create an inexpensive favor centerpiece item. Remember that you could always decide to spruce them up a little bit with some flowers or whatnot to help match any decor or theme that you have going on.
