How to prepare your netting spool for crocheting pot scrubbies

Fall is barely a month old, the leaves are changing and everyone is settling in to their autumn routine.  Most people don’t begin to focus on Christmas until the post-Thanksgiving shopping madness begins.  We know better!  Christmas is the main season that our crafty friends and loyal customers delight their family and friends with handmade items.  You all know that there’s no such thing as starting too early when it comes to your holiday projects.   Here at The Tulle Shed, we’ll be hard at work whipping up our always-popular starter kits for the holidays.  While we pre-cut our spools for the kits, here is a quick how-to so you can prepare your own from one of our nylon netting spools:

Step 1

Remember the old saying: Measure twice, cut once!

Measure and mark one and one-half inches on your netting spool

Step 2

We recommend using an electric carving knife

Cut the spool using a gentle sawing motion until the knife touches the inner cardboard roll.

That’s it, you’re done!  Your spool is ready for crocheting a pot scrubbie!  A cut spool combined with one of our handy spool holders is the quickest and easiest way to craft one of these handy little items.  Happy crafting!
